On the 3rd day of our symposium we will again be bring together clinicians, engineers, computer specialists, psychologists, representative of the medical industry to present and discuss current projects and new technical possibilities for medical technology solutions for children.
Learn how the latest developments in 3d printing digitalization of healthcare, AI/deep learning, additive manufacturing/3D printing, robotics, minaturization, nano sized devices and sensorics improve medical care for children.

Telemedicine in general and especially in pediatric surgery and paediatrics is often mentioned as a new option for patient-centered care, for the formation of interregional centers for rare diseases or, for example, for second opinion portals to strengthen patient empowerment. Telemedicine has also found its position as an important tool in the context of the international COVID-19 pandemic. But how scientifically based is telemedicine and what happens more on personal assessment? This presentation will provide an overview of current opportunities and discuss challenges.

Over 20 years “surgical robotic systems” are being developed. However, none of the systems focused on pediatric procedures.
Especially, in the smaller children there is a need for systems that have a specific focus on this population. To perform robot-assisted procedures on children, the system has to fulfill specific requirements: e.g. smaller instruments, small high definition optics, modular system.
The TransEnterix surgical robot by Senhance (TRX), is a robotic system with a special focus on pediatric procedures. We have been using the TRX for 5 months and will share our experience with the TRX for several surgical procedures in children, such as inguinal hernia and fundoplication.
We will discuss the pros and cons of the TRX and future developments.
